Some tips to make your videos a success?

To create a qualitative and effective presentation video, it is essential to structure your presentation by finishing the questions below:

How do you introduce yourself?

Don't forget to greet the students who will watch your video and announce yourself clearly. Do not hesitate to indicate your profession if this is related to the nature of your lessons.

Present your lesson quickly and indicate the theme (tutoring, homework support, music course, language course or other).

Indicate your academic background, diplomas, qualifications and experience.

Locate yourself and indicate your city or region when you teach at the student's home.

Be concise and avoid unnecessary details to make your introduction successful and get students' attention.

What do your lessons look like?

Your students want to get to know you and want to see you in action.

Present your teaching and your methodology.

Include educational material or material that you use during your classes.

It is important to specify your target group by specifying the levels at which you teach, as well as your specialty (for example: math classes, exam preparation). This allows students to know whether you meet their expectations and whether you can meet their needs.

If you teach language courses, do not hesitate to give your presentation in whole or in part in the language or languages you teach. Your students get an overview of your pronunciation and how you express yourself.

For example, if you are teaching music, use your instrument and don't hesitate to play a few notes to make students want to take your lessons.

If you are a yoga teacher, dance teacher, sports coach or cooking teacher, consider making a small demonstration or screenplay.

Why choose you instead of another teacher?

Be dynamic, smile and speak clearly while you think about articulating well.

Show your students that you are the perfect teacher by taking care of your presentation.

Consider promoting your skills and talent by talking about your qualities and what you can offer your students.

Don't hesitate to try multiple times to find the right tone and words that show who you really are.

How to conclude?

Consider interacting with your audience to get reservations.

Invite students to contact you on Apprentus to answer all their questions. Don't forget to thank and motivate students to continue learning.

Technically, creating a presentation video is not easy. If you're not sure how to do this, here are some additional tips:

Background and framing

Without being required, the use of a background is recommended.

Consider using a background that emphasizes you or an environment in which you want to teach. The background or environment in which you are going to film your video should provide a simple and professional image.

Moreover, it allows you to add subtitles or text while editing your video. We recommend using a white wall or a calm background. If you want to film outside, consider taking your shot in a quiet and peaceful location. Use a wide, fixed shot to stage yourself. Avoid close-ups or zooming in on your face. Put yourself on stage or in your favorite position to teach to be as natural as possible. If you want to emphasize your city to promote your lessons at home, consider filming yourself in front of a monument or place that symbolizes your neighborhood, your city or your region.

Image quality

Use your webcam or other device with which you can record a video (smartphone, tablet, camera). You don't need to investing in a professional camera. Today smartphones are more than enough and give excellent results. Consider using a small tripod to secure your phone and get a stable image. The webcam on your PC may also be enough to get high quality video. Feel free to change the settings to get the configuration that suits you best.

Light

Choose natural light or film in a well-lit room. If you're filming in a dark environment, use two lights in front of you to boost the brightness.

When filming outdoors, choose the hours close to sunrise or sunset. You will enjoy softer, more diffused light.

Sound quality

Clear sound without background noise is crucial for someone to play a video til the end.

It's about testing and practicing until you find the configuration that best suits your situation. If you hold the microphone too close to your mouth, your voice will be distorted and too loud. For those who want to add music, don't forget to adjust the volume so that you can still be heard clearly.
